California law requires school districts to provide an education to any student who resides within the district’s attendance area. The Arcata School District ensures that every student living within district boundaries has a seat reserved for them at Arcata Elementary School & Sunny Brae Middle School, and then gladly reviews all InterDistrict Attendance Transfer requests for those classrooms that haven’t reached capacity with in-district students. Beginning December 1, 2025, all Humboldt County InterDistrict Transfer (IDT) requests must be completed online – school districts will no longer accept paper or PDF applications. DEADLINE: February 3, 2026.
